Gorgeous Product!
My old GHD's recently clapped out after five years, which I thought was a very long time given the hammer they've had. I was initially unsure about going for the new more lightweight model as I was worried that they might be a bit flimsy. I needn't have worried. They feel perfectly robust and the new features on them are great. They beep when they're switched on, and again when they've heated up. They also beep if you've accidentally left them on, at which point they also go into 'sleep' mode. The finish they give to my hair is gorgeous and really long lasting.
The straighteners themselves aside, the rest of the gift is fab and well worth paying a little bit extra for. The travel hairdryer is compact and both aesthetically and ergonomically excellent. Attention to detail is great, with the travel case that the straighteners come in even having a cute little shoe shaped zipper. The mirror is really heavy and well made and the presentation box that it all comes in is also lovely. A brilliant gift for all the girlie girls out there - highly recommended.

The ultimate straightener - spoil yourself or someone special
The straightneners: GHD make the best hair straighteners on the market today. They are the brand leader and the standard which other manufacturers must apire to. I think so, my hairdresser thinks so and every girl I know that owns a set thinks so. I have never seen another brand used in a professional salon.

These straigteners, in black and gold, feel and look top quality. When you switch them on they very quickly heat up and give an audible signal to let you know they are up to temperature. It really is just a very few seconds. The plates glide silkily through the hair giving a perfect result. I have owned other makes of straighteners and they really don't come anywhere close to the way these plates glide through the hair, silky smooth like a hot knife through butter. There is a safety mechanism which will shut down the straighteners if they are left unused for thirty minutes which is handy if you are going out and, like me, prone to think you have left things switched on. No more worries there.

The dryer: The travel hairdryer is really nice and again has the look and feel of a top quality product. The handle folds in for ease of packing and it has a switch to select either 120v or 240v. Some travel hairdryers can be lacking in power and rather an inefficient and frustrating way to try and get your hair dry, but this is definitely not the case with this dryer.
Personally, when I am on hoiday I want to feel pampered and I can dry my hair as quickly and easily with this as with my 'main' hairdryer.

Extras: The stylish zip case for the straighteners which doubles as a heat resistant mat comes in really handy to protect the dressing table. This also contains two hair clips for seperating the hair during styling. Again they are branded and stylish and hold the hair very efficiently.
The baroque mirror is very pretty but maybe not a dealbreaker. Nice little extra though.
Everything comes packed in a very luxurious casket type black case which looks very swanky on the dressing table.

Conclusion: Nobody would be disappointed to own this it is fabulous, glitzy, swanky and the bees knees of straighteners. As a gift pack it would make a superb christmas present if you would like to spoil a friend or lady in your life. Is there a negative comment to be found regarding this product? Well the price is a little steep and I suppose, given that the hairdryer and little mirror seem to be intended for travelling, to pack the whole kit in holiday luggage would be quite space consuming.

I couldn't believe how gorgeous this set was when I unpacked it. First of all there is a black and gold sparkly treasure chest which when opened reveals your GHD straighteners in new sleek black and gold finish with even smoother ceramic plates. There is also a cute little travel hairdryer which I was not expecting and was a pleasant surprise, and 2 hair grips to help you style your hair. In addition there is a cute gold baroque style mirror which you can stand up and is perfect for taking travelling. The hairdryer is super fast to dry your hair with and not overly noisy. The handle also folds inwards so you can maximise on suitcase space. The straighteners are as good as everyone says, leaving hair sleek in no time. You can eliminate frizz and you can also use them to create soft curls and waves, if you twist your hair around the barrel. The case which comes with the straighteners is heat resistant and the zip has a cute stiletto shoe as the zip-pull! I love the attention to detail in this set and think it would make a great gift especially for Christmas as it is super glam, sparkly and has a celeb following. Highly recommended!

Better than the larger toothbrush head
Having used both the large head and this one, I found the standard size heads can get at the back of the teeth and the molars at the back easier than the large heads.

Not as good as the head that ships with the brush
I had the original brush on my Sonicare for far longer than recommended, nearly 6 months in total. However it held together well, didn't spread too much and was perfectly fine nearly up until the end of its life. I replaced it with a set of these, and I am not so impressed. These brushes are narrower and shorter, and they have already started to fray and spread. I don't know if I'm being too forceful with them, but they just don't seem as long-lasting. However, the size is perfect for getting the back teeth, or if you have a smaller mouth.

A Stutteringly Good Clean
First the gripes; to clarify Amazon's product description; there's no DVD supplied with this toothbrush and it comes with only 2 brush heads and not 7.

The timer is useful but also annoying; after every 30 seconds the toothbrush 'stutters' a couple of times but after 2 minutes has a grand stuttering effect as if to say "oi, that's enough, put me down now!"

And it does seem to take an extremely long time to recharge, somewhere over 7 hours (I put it on before going to bed and it's still recharging when I get up).

I already owned the Professional Care 6000 model Braun Oral-B Professional Care 6000 Electric Rechargeable Toothbrush and to be honest I can't see a difference between the two; they both seem to function exactly the same (perhaps it's a marketing thingy to make us think we have more choice?).

This toothbrush is very effective for cleaning all around the fronts and backs of teeth but its main benefit for me is in cleaning behind the rear molars which I find can be awkward with a normal brush as my gums get in the way. Although, it's not too good for between teeth, for that you'll need a different attachment like Braun Oral-B IP17-1 Interspace Replacement Rechargeable Toothbrush Head, floss or an ordinary toothbrush.

Weighing the pros and cons, overall I like it and I would definitely recommend it and if it failed I would replace it.

A good entry level brush, with some nice features and a few small flaws
This is an excellent entry level electric toothbrush from Braun. I've been using one of their previous models (the Vitality) for the last few years, and this model quite simply blows it out of the water.

The toothbrush comes as three separate components; the brush heads, the charger unit, and the handle/motor unit.
The brush comes with two standard Oral-B toothbrush heads in the box - while these don't do floss action, or whitening, or any more advanced cleaning procedures, they're perfectly adequate for day-to-day brushing. Some quick experimentation showed that brush heads that fit the Vitality also fit this Professional Care model, and from this I infer that all the standard Oral-B brush head types will fit (or say otherwise on the box).

Unfortunately, whilst the brush heads benefit from standardisation, the power charger does not; whilst it looks similar to the Vitality charger, it is thinner, and the Professional Care motor unit will not fit on a Vitality charger; this isn't an issue if you only charge one toothbrush, or have two Professional Care brushes, but is slightly annoying to have to plug and unplug two different chargers for brushes made by the same manufacturer. The charger itself is a small white plastic unit, with a two pin plug attached - you may need an adapter to plug it into your wall at home. The base seems small, but does not appear to be unstable.

The brush handle/motor unit is white and blue, and comes with two useful features not found on my earlier model - a timer, and a charge indicator light. The timer causes the brush head to vibrate at 30 second intervals during use, letting the user know when they've reached the `recommended' time spent brushing a `quadrant' of their mouth. This can be quite disorienting at first, as it feels as if the brush charge is giving out. Once you get used to it, it can be quite useful - presuming you want to brush your teeth in quadrants! The timer also has a longer `stutter' at the conclusion of two minutes, to let the user know that they've reached the end of recommended brushing time.

The charge indicator is a straightforward green light, which lights up when the unit is placed on the charger. Flashing green means that it is charging, and steady green means that it is fully charged. This can be quite useful if you're in a hurry and want to know if the brush is charged or not. It's also useful for letting you know when the battery is running low, always a problem on older electric toothbrush models.
The last feature is noticeable in brushing, which is the pressure sensor. This pauses the brush head pulse action (but not the spin) when the user pushes down too hard. This is sometimes difficult to feel, and perhaps a little too subtle, but the attempt to warn a user when they are pushing down too hard is welcome, even if it is of doubtful effectiveness.

The unit is slim and easy to pick up and use (at least for the recommended 2 minutes!). The motor is reasonably powerful, and certainly beats my old Vitality in cleaning power, as well as a comparative test with a manual brush.

In conclusion, some useful features and good cleaning power make this a solid entry level electric toothbrush.

Leaves your teeth feeling wonderfully clean

This is the third Braun electic toothbush I have used and its the best. After using it just once I could feel the difference on my teeth - it removes so much plaque.

It may be an entry level model but it has all the features that are really needed from the built-in pressure sensor so you don't brush to hard, the indicator light so that you know the battery is running low to the 30 second interval sound to you are reminded to move on to another quadrant of your mouth.

There are two brush heads included in the package which have blue indicator bristles which fade over three months to remind you to change the head.

This brush has a thinner handle and lighter than my previous electric toothbursh which is very useful to me as I have problems with my hands. The toothbrush was quick to charge and holds the charge well so the brush works as well at the end of the week as at the beginning.

The only problem I had is not with the toothbrush itself but with the packaging it is supplied in. Be prepared to struggle as the box is encased in a very tough sealed plastic case which was difficult to get scissors in to cut off at least the version I was sent.

Spine-tingling treasure for pleasure!
This strange looking gadget resembles an egg whisk gone wrong, but when you know what to do with it, it's fantastic for elevating your mood and relaxing your body.
The idea is to place the head massager on the top of your head and press it downwards, then draw it upwards repeatedly. This is far, far better if someone else does it for you. The action stimulates masses of nerve endings and make you tingle all over - it's a totally amazing sensation. (Actually is lifts my mood and makes me giggle as well as giving immensely relaxing pleasure.) Highly recommended for all.
I bought five and have made presents of them.

Genie? depends really...
Bought the genie having seen similar items being used in shopping centre demonstrations. Tried it on my husband first, he just loves it, sends him all squishy and sleepy. Then he tried it on me and it just freaked me out, felt like a large number of insects crawling over my scalp and I can't stand it. We're keeping it for the man in the house, but if it were just for me, I'd have lamped it in the bin. It's cheap enough to be worth a try, even if you don't like, it, take it to work/school and watch the reactions!!

Best Money I have Spent In A Long Time!
Like yourself, I too read all the customer reviews before I finally decided to take the plunge and buy a pair of GHD's! I have to honestly say that it is the best money I have spent on a product for myself in a long time! Even my hair dresser was impressed!

The GHD's heat up in a matter of seconds and are so simple to use. I have shoulder length quite thick hair which I clip up and straighten in sections. The whole process takes less than 10 minutes and I am left with soft and shiny hair! I have also found that I dont need to use them everyday as the effect normally lasts until my hair is re-washed. Occassionally I touch up sections which I can include as part of my morning routine before I leave my house for work.

I have been so impressed with my GHD's that I have also bought a couple of GHD hair brushes and now use the GHD Thermal Protector Spray!

I would recommend these to anyone who is thinking about buying them!

Ive had my GHDs for nearly 5 years, i have heard that people have had problems with them but mine have been faultless! and they've been all around the world with me. 5 years and still working perfect

GHD Mark4 straighteners
I love them! I have long very curly hair due to being mixed race, my hair does take a while to straighten as its very thick and i tend to section it off, but with my old straighners (remington wet2 straight)i would have to run the straighteneres down my hair a few times to straighten it but with these i dont. They have not burnt my hair like the previous review, but this maybe because my hair is thicker, it can deal with the heat more. Or if too much protector spray is sprayed on the hair this can make hair wet. Causing the straighteners to sizzle this could also dry out the hair.

I cant believe how quick they heat up its literally seconds.

As Good As A Wet Shave?

I'm the most sceptical person when it comes to electric shavers. I have resisted the girlfriend pushing me into buying one. Anyway, this one came down to a price (not on Amazon, sorry) and so I thought I would give it a try.

It is excellent. I mean, really... It's very quiet, very low vibration (if that is something that people worry about, I don't know) and really does a very good job. I was really surprised...

I like the fact that I can flip open the top and give it a good wash under a tap and there is no HUGE base station for cleaning. Seems low maintenance to me.

Anyway, that it... In summary, very close shave, easy to look after and does the job really well. And I have to point out, I have very thick hair so it's a bit of job even with a wet razor!

I was dubious about buying a rechargable shaver as it takes ages to shave with my mains powered Philips shaver, but, reading the review above i thought i would give it a go. This shaver is amazing, it feels as though i have used a wet razor, i have never used an electric shaver that shaves so well. I cannot use a wet razor as it cuts my face up every time but even if i did, it would not "do it" any better than this.
11/10, thank you Philips.

Just arrived - Just used it - awesome - it left 1 or 2 stands of hair which i had to go over couple of times - but i think once i understand how I need to use it on my face in particular - it will be perfect - the quality of the shave was like doing a wetshave followed by a second pass without scraping off all your skin. Well worth the buy.

A great brush but don't be tempted to upgrade if you already have a sonicare.
I have been using an older sonicare model for about a year and am absolutely delighted with the results. This one is a little slimmer, has simplified buttons and boasts a new "whitening" setting.

The brush sets up turbulance in your saliva and toothpaste as it slops around your teeth, so as well as the physical rubbing of the bristles, you get a between tooth clean from the liquid being pushed through. Its no substitute for flossing but really makes a big improvement over brushing with a traditional brush.

This can seem a lot of money for a toothbrush, but then again, its tough to get an NHS dentist these days and the costs of dental work make the tag on this gadget seem altogether reasonable when you think about it.

I had to buy a special plug adapter for it as I don't have a shaver socket in my house. An included adapter would have been nice at these prices, and this can't be that rare a situation.

This brush is every bit as good as my previous model, but I am not that impressed with the new whitening mode.

I would say that if you don't have an electronic toothbrush already then this is a very good one to get. If however you already have a previous sonicare model, then do not be tempted to upgrade purely by the new "whitening" setting. Its no great advance and no reason to upgrade.

You have to suspect gimmicks like this are an attempt to get existing users to shell out again. If they come up with a significant breakthrough, then fair enough, but this isn't one of those.

Philips Whiter than White!
Fairly new to using an electric toothbrush really, well part from the Oral B one which is still going strong I hasten to add.

I was a little dubious about using this if I am honest (sonicare sounds more like one of those sonic bathroom/kitchen cleaning brushes, that are supposed to be quite lethal). But I was brave and can honestly say there was no blood! Just whiter looking teeth and it certainly does boost your confidence knowing that your teeth are clean and white, even if you are a red wine drinker like myself.

The one gripe I have with this toothbrush is the fact that it doesn't come with a adapter (two pin plug) and you must remember that not every bathroom has one of these. I found one from one of my other appliances, but for the cost of this I would have thought that one would come as standard! Come on Philip's you are letting your standards down on this one. You gain points in my estimation though as you give it a 2 year warranty! Plus a guarantee of noticeable results etc or a full refund, what more can you ask for!

The brush has three modes, clean, sensitive, clean and white and reslly is the most easiest thing to use. I have been using mine all week now and it still has power, eventually got used to the shape of it, as I have small hands and this is slightly bigger than the Oral B I am familar with. Also the brush head is more like the shape of a conventional toothbrush, not small and rounded like the previous one I have used. Yet I have to confess I am a fan, the feeling it leaves me with is that of having been to the dentist for a scale and polish, really clean, smoother feeling teeth (but with no dental fees!)

The instructions are clear and easy to follow, you must read these first as there is a method of using it at the begining which you really should follow!

I have noticed an improvement on an old crown where it was removed then filled, the tooth is brighter, and feels smooth when my tongue touches it.

It is also safe to use on teeth that are veneered, sensitive, implant material or even with braces, what cann't this be used on ? (false ones I think).
What I also like about it is the fact that it comes with different coloured rings so up to three people can use it (each with a different head of course) just buy the extra heads then you are away, and talking of that it does come with a travel case, so no more grubby brush on your trips.

The charger is not too big or bulky another plus if needing it to travel with or even if you are short of bathroom surface space. Plus it is easy to wrap the cord around, no tangles.

I have actually seen this item advertised in Company magazine as being the best if combined along dental floss and a good quality toothpaste, so rather than get a bleach/whitening kit pricey done at home or the dentist use this instead (a lot cheaper too).

This does what it says it should! An easy to use quality made product which actually delivers excellent results.

I have to keep smiling now just to show off my brighter looking teeth, they really do look like I have spent a fortune at the dentist, but no I have spent less than the cost of one dental checkup.

Will I go back to using my old brush, lets just say I have cleaned it up and put it away in the airing cupboard, as this Sonicare has convinced me this is the one!

It is the middle of January 2009 now and it is still going strong, have been using it now for the last 4 months and I can say that there is a big difference in the colour of my teeth (whiter).

Have just changed the head on the brush, an easy job to do. It does say to change the head every three months like you would a normal manual toothbrush, but I had flu so wanted that to clear up then start afresh with a new toothbrush head.

It still keeps its charge like at the start, charge it up and it lasts a full week.

So have been using this for a quarter of the year and wouldn't change anything about it.

As of May 2009 mine is still working, (fully functional) have read that a couple of others have had a problem after about 7 months. I suppose it is a bit like anything there is always going to be an odd one or two with a problem, whether this is down to the design or users not sure.

The big thing about this toothbrush is that it does come with a guarantee (2 years) so if you do get an issue with it, you can always get some help with it.

As I have raved about this toothbrush so much at home, my husband now wants to try one out ..... so either he thinks it does a pretty dammed good job, or he is just feed up of me going on about it!
